Once Upon Tonight (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website once-upon-tonight.com and the daily bedtime story email service (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who This Service Is For
Once Upon Tonight’s stories are created for children to enjoy together with a parent or guardian. Accounts, subscriptions, and payments are set up and managed by an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and we do not require or request a child’s name, email, or other personal information to use the Service. Where our stories include a personalization feature, any name entered is provided by the subscribing adult, used only to generate that story text, and is not stored as a profile tied to a child. Advertising on this site is shown to the adult subscriber managing the account and is not targeted based on any child’s data, since we don’t collect any.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account and contact information: your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter or create an account.
- Payment information: if you purchase a paid subscription, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe, via Jetpack Payments). We do not store your full card number; the payment processor handles that directly.
- Usage and analytics data: we use Jetpack Stats to understand how visitors use our site, including pages viewed, general location (city/country level), device/browser type, and referring website.
- Communications: if you contact us for support, we keep a record of that correspondence.
Cookies and Advertising
Our site uses cookies set by WordPress.com/Jetpack for core functionality (such as staying logged in and remembering subscription status) and for analytics.
If we display advertising on this site, our advertising partners — which may include Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — may use cookies, pixels, or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this or other websites. This may include the Meta Pixel, a tracking tool that helps us understand ad performance and, where enabled, show relevant ads to previous visitors.

Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Once Upon Tonight:

- Stripe: payment processing for paid subscriptions
- Advertising partners (if/when ads are enabled on the site), such as Google and Meta
We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

- Unsubscribe: every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can manage your subscription from your WordPress.com account.
- Access or deletion: you can request a copy of the information we hold about you, or request that we delete it, by contacting us at the address below.
- EU/UK/California residents: depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information). We retain your account and subscription information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, tax, or record-keeping purposes.

We rely on WordPress.com’s and Stripe’s security infrastructure to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and for material changes we’ll make a reasonable effort to notify subscribers by email.
